Woman sentenced in credit card fraud case

MARQUETTE — A woman facing charges for illegal use of a credit card received her sentence in Marquette County Circuit Court Friday Morning.

Twenty–year old Whitney Wirkula was sentenced to probation under the Holmes Youthful Trainee Act (HYTA). If she complies with the terms of probation, no conviction will be entered in the case and records of the court’s disposition will be sealed.

Wirkula pleaded guilty to one count of illegal use or sale of a financial transaction device. When handing down the verdict, Judge Mazzuchi said she wants Wirkula to spend her time on probation thinking about the family she hurt with her decision.
