HOUGHTON — A busy intersection in Houghton will be getting a traffic light soon.

The light will be installed at the entrance to Walmart off M-26 this year. Houghton City Manager Eric Waara informed the city council at their regular meeting Wednesday that bids for the project will be accepted in August. Construction will take place in September or October.

The cost of the project is expected to be around $150,000, which will be paid by the Michigan Department of Transportation.
