Guilty plea entered for felonious assault

MARQUETTE — A woman arrested last month after an incident at a local parking lot entered a guilty plea this morning.

Twenty–six year old Ebonie Burns pleaded guilty to one count of felonious assault, a felony count punishable by up to four years in prison and a maximum fine of up to $2,000. The plea agreement calls for a delayed sentence and all other charges were dropped.

Burns, along with her brother, 38–year–old Kowayne Burns, were arrested in March after an assault in Marquette. Kowayne is set to be sentenced on May 13th.

Ebonie is scheduled to be sentenced in circuit court on June 1st.
