ISHPEMING — The rules are simple. You suggest it, Sam eats it. ABC 10 and CW 5 introduced a new Facebook segment we’re calling ‘Sam vs. Food.’ Similar to ‘Man vs. Food’ from the Travel Channel, this local spinoff will put Sam’s gluttonous food cravings for Yooper cuisine to the test.
Introducing the #SamVSFood challenge. Send us your food challenge suggestions on Facebook or email them to Sam@abc10up.com

We’re looking for local restaurants with food challenges to promote live on ABC 10’s Facebook page, on our website, and during ABC 10’s evening newscast.
ABC 10 is taking suggestions from all across the Upper Peninsula. Think big and/or spicy. Because Sam is a little terrified of spicy food, and because we don’t want to leave any Upper Peninsula dish under challenged, Sam can ‘tag in’ ABC 10’s interactive media manager Andrew Lorinser to participate in a duo duel.
If you know an Upper Peninsula restaurant owner or manager that would like to participate in the upcoming promotional series, please contact us at Sam@abc10up.com, or get a hold of us through social media.
ABC 10 will promote the challenge for a week prior to our arrival on our social media pages, television, and our website. We’ll shoot a live segment and air a story a few days later. Chefs can promote a food challenge already on their menu or even create a new customized one just to see if we can do it.
Challenges begin the second week of May. We already have a lot of great suggestions coming our way — three-pound pasties, a 40-ounce steak, local fish fries, etc.
A few rules: No pork, ham, or bacon dishes. No alcohol challenges, and try to keep it locally-themed. We’ll announce a schedule May 9th.
