Shelter invites community to meet the animals and take a tour

NEGAUNEE — With Christmas less than a week away, there are plenty of people who could use your help, and maybe a few animals too.

Saturday afternoon, the Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter will be holding a very special event to allow you to do just that.

“Every season we have a Home for the Holidays Open house to invite the community to our shelter, take a tour of the shelter, meet the staff, meet the volunteers, board of directors. We’ll have refreshments: coffee, goodies, baked goods. Plus, meet our furry friends of course!” said Ann Brownell, Community Outreach Coordinator at UPAWS, “We want to have all the pets get into wonderful, loving homes. Adding a pet to your life, if you’re ready for it, you’ve done your research and you’re prepared is a great opportunity.”

Visitors can chose a candy–cane from Santa’s stocking marked with 10 to 50% off adoption fees. One lucky pet parent will even get 100% off!

The open house runs from 12:00-6:30 p.m. You can find more information by following this link.
