Local steakhouse ranked top in state
MARQUETTE — A local business owner was pleasantly surprised that patrons from across the state recognized the quality of his food in an online poll.
In a recent survey MLive ranked Elizabeth’s Chophouse in downtown Marquette third best steak in Michigan. An M-live reporter traveled to 25 different steakhouses in Michigan that were suggested by a public poll, and then ranked the top ten based on his experience at each restaurant.
Owner Tom Wahlstrom says, “Well there were two awards given to us within about a three week period. Both of them were unsolicited. We had no idea either one was happening. This concept and idea was a dream that started 25 years ago. In October we passed our eighth year. When we opened our goal was to be the number one steak house in the country, so then to get two unsolicited awards within a three week period that actually ranked in in the top ten in Michigan, it felt great. It’s kind of humbling a little bit that, you know, those dreams are becoming a reality.”
