Two MTU Women’s Soccer Players Make All-GLIAC Team

BAY CITY, Mich. — Michigan Tech women’s soccer players Lexi Herriweg (Fond du Lac, Wis.) and Kathryn Farkas (Brighton, Mich.) were both honored by the GLIAC as the league announced its postseason awards today. Herrewig earned All-GLIAC First Team honors while Farkas was named All-GLIAC Honorable Mention.

Herrewig finished second in the league in goals with a school-record 13. She also had five assists for a school-record 31 total points—third most in the GLIAC. A senior forward, Herrewig scored a goal in 10 different games and registered five game winners. She was named GLIAC Player of the Week once and recently earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors. For her career, Herrewig played in 75 games with 29 goals, 26 assists and 84 total points.

Farkas started all 17 games at midfield for the Huskies. The sophomore posted one goal and one assist while helping Tech to a 1.35 goals against average. She has played in all 35 of the Huskies’ games over the last two years with five total points.

Michigan Tech compiled a 9-6-2 record in 2015 with only five home games. The Huskies qualified for the GLIAC Tournament for the fourth straight season and were knocked out in the quarterfinal at Ashland Tuesday (Nov. 3) on penalty kicks.
