Torch runners cross the Mackinac Bridge
ST. IGNACE — A seven hundred fifty mile relay that started at the tip of the Keweenaw has made its way to the Lower Peninsula.
Runners from the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics hit the Mackinac Bridge yesterday. Special Olympics athletes have been joined by law enforcement officers in the around-the-clock relay that began in Copper Harbor and will conclude in Sterling Heights tomorrow night.
The annual event is designed to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics Michigan participants. The relay is set to arrive at the State Capitol in Lansing around midnight.
