LUCE COUNTY, Mich. — The following comes from a Facebook post by Tahquamenon Falls Riverboat Tours & the Famous Toonerville Trolley.

“Hi all. I want to share with you the special experience I had on Sunday morning. I was fishing at a spot we call 10 minute bend at 8:30 AM. It was very cold that morning 28 degrees.

“There was a heavy fog coming up off the water and the sun was shining through the fog. As I was quietly fishing, I started hearing the sound of twigs rustling. At first I thought it was some birds I had seen flittering around, but soon it was close enough that I said to my self, here comes a deer.

“That is when I saw this set of antlers sticking above the bushes. They weren’t deer antlers they were MOOSE antlers. This bull stepped out on the bank. I had my pocket camera with me and I was lucky to get a few shots. This big boy proceeded to walk right out and swim across the river.

“The morning was so quiet that I could hear his labored breathing as he swam across. He got out on the opposite bank and shook off like a dog. Then he wandered into the woods and was gone.”
