TRAVERSE CITY — A familiar face has joined the impending race for a seat in the U.S. Congress.

Downstate Garfield Township Police Chief Jerry Cannon has announced his candidacy for Michigan’s First Congressional District. In a press release, Cannon listed issues such as Postal Service cuts, Broadband Internet Service, and infrastructure repairs as a few of the areas he is concerned about.

Cannon will be running against incumbent Republican Dan Benishek. They also ran opposite one another in 2014.
