MARQUETTE — The U.P. Land Conservancy served up brats and burgers as part of a fundraiser at Econo Foods.

$3 got you a burger or a brat plus a pop and chips. The cookout was a great opportunity for the Land Conservancy to earn some money for their organization and inform hungry citizens about their cause.

“Econo Foods was nice enough to let us use the brat stand. When we signed up to do this, they told us you can earn anywhere from $20 to $500 depending on the weather,” said Jeff Caldwell of the UP Land Conservancy. “We protect property all over the Upper Peninsula. We do different outdoor events like the snowshoe race in the winter and we’re doing a trail run this October.”

Since 1999, the group has maintained certain properties across all parts of the Upper Peninsula.
