Bridgefest continues with Bridgefeast

HOUGHTON-HANCOCK — It continues to be one of the biggest weekends of the summer in the Copper Country.

Bridgefest and the Houghton Rotary Bridgefeast are underway.

Houghton Rotary Secretary Mari Busche said, “Well, the weather is certainly in our favor. This type of weather brings out the community. People want to get here before the parade and then we’ll pick up again after the parade. It will be very busy this evening.”

Rotarians have been serving great food now for 30 years as part of their annual fundraiser.

Busche said, “They started out under the parking lot and they’ve changed the menu over the years and now we still have the lobsters, we still have seafood but we have a lot of non–seafood as well.”

Returning this year is the Michigan National Guard Company 1437 to demonstrate their pontoon bridge that may be called upon during an emergency. Activities continue throughout tomorrow and culminate in the Jon Davis Memorial Fireworks show.
