Murder and arson suspect has May court date

ISHPEMING — A Gwinn man charged with murder and arson in connection with a fatal fire won’t be back in court again until May.

Steven Zintman, 45, has pleaded not guilty to felony murder and first-degree arson. He had a pretrial conference in Marquette County Circuit Court this afternoon.

Zintman doesn’t have a trial date scheduled yet. His next court appearance will be another pretrial on May 22nd.

The Forsyth Township Police arrested Zintman last October after a five-month investigation. The fire happened last May at 609 Valkyrie Street at K.I. Sawyer. Sally Plume, 46, lived in that home. She died in the blaze.

Zintman is in the Marquette County Jail on two million dollars cash bond. He could face life in prison on both the murder and arson charges if he’s convicted.
