Fire damages building at Michigan Tech

HOUGHTON –  The cause to a fire at the Michigan Tech Motor Pool is under investigation.

Michigan Tech Police say the fire was discovered around 5:00 a.m. Thursday. Fire departments from Houghton and Hurontown responded and put out the fire.

A small snow removal vehicle had caught fire, damaging the roof of the building and causing smoke damage. Other snow removal equipment was in the garage but only sustained minimal damage.

All of the equipment was moved out of the building and is operable. No one was injured in the fire and no criminal activity is suspected.
