Iron County drug suspect fails to appear in court
CRYSTAL FALLS — A bench warrant has been issued for an Iron County drug suspect.
Corey Knepp, 28, of Iron River, failed to appear at his pretrial this week and is now being sought by authorities.
Knepp faces the charge of delivery/manufacture of less than 50 grams of heroin. He also maintains habitual offender status.
One of Knepp’s co-defendants, Dijon Carter, 23, of Milwaukee, Wis., plead guilty to one count of delivery of less than 50 grams of a controlled substance. He will be sentenced March 2nd.
Knepp’s and Carter’s remaining co-defendants are all scheduled to face a jury at the end of March. They are Tyler Christensen, 27; Justin Gollakner, 26; and Andrea LaFountain, 19, all of Iron River.
Knepp, Christensen, Gollakner and LaFountain were all arrested last December following a months-long investigation by the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team. Carter was arrested in November, but was already in jail on weapons charges in Wisconsin.
