Michigan Tech women’s hoops ranked No. 19

LILBURN, Ga. — Michigan Tech moved up to No. 19 in this week’s Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Division II Poll. The Huskies, who have spent the last six weeks in the nation’s top 25, were ranked No. 23 a week ago.

Tech defeated Ferris State last Thursday (Jan. 15) by a 65-50 score before beating Grand Valley State on Saturday (Jan. 17) 61-52. The Huskies completed their four-game home stand with a 4-0 record, holding opponents to 44.0 points per game over the two weeks.

Michigan Tech is one of two GLIAC teams to appear in the national rankings. Wayne State, which Tech defeated 68-55 back on Dec. 13, is currently the No. 5 team in Division II.

Tech, which owns a 13-1 overall record and leads the GLIAC North Division at 9-1, travels for a pair of games in lower Michigan this week. The Black and Gold will play at Hillsdale on Thursday (Jan. 22) and Saginaw Valley State on Saturday (Jan. 24).
