Van and car collide at intersection of US-41 and North Lake Drive
ISHPEMING TOWNSHIP — Alcohol was not a factor in a two-vehicle accident in Ishpeming Township Thursday night.
The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says the crash occurred around 6:00 p.m. at the intersection of US-41 and North Lake Drive. A 2003 Pontiac Montana driven by 67-year-old Jerry Ekdahl of Battle Creek was traveling north on North Lake Drive and attempting to cross US-41. He entered into the path of a 2014 Nissan Rogue operated by 67-year-old Athena Engle of Republic, who was headed westbound on US-41.
Deputies say alcohol was not a factor in the crash and safety belts were used. Neither driver in the crash were treated for injuries, and the accident remains under investigation.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Michigan State Police and Ishpeming Township Volunteer Fire Department.
