NMU’s Tucker named to All-Region team

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Northern Michigan University junior wide receiver Marcus Tucker has been named First Team All-Region in Super Region 4 by the Don Hansen National Weekly Football Gazette. Tucker was named to the team as the all-purpose nominee highlighting his skills as both a returner and wide out for the Wildcats.

Tucker ranked first in the GLIAC averaging 21.1 yards per catch and was fourth overall in all-purpose yards racking up 1,704 yards over the course of the campaign averaging 154.9 yards per game. He also ranked seventh in the league with seven touchdowns.

He was the top receiver for the Wildcats catching 40 receptions for 843 yards through the air. Tucker also racked up 841 yards in kick returns averaging 26.3 yards per return.

Tucker’s longest reception of the season was a 67-yard catch in the Wildcats season finale win over Findlay, 66-38. He also had an 87-yard kick return in NMU’s 33-30 win over Wayne State.

As a returner, Tucker was third in the GLIAC averaging 26.3 yards per return with a touchdown.

His longest return on the season was 84 yards, which came late in the fourth quarter against Wayne State that set up a game winning field goal in a 33-30 victory.

Tucker has also been honored with Second Team All-GLIAC honors and been named to the All-Region Third Team by Beyond Sports Network.
