Christmas dinner theater show takes stage in Negaunee Saturday

NEGAUNEE — Christmas is three weeks from today, and Negaunee is celebrating the season this weekend with an evening of dinner theater.

The Negaunee Eagles and the Peninsula Arts Appreciation Council will present “The Best Christmas Show Ever!”. The proceeds from the evening benefit the Vista Theater. “The Best Christmas Show Ever!” is a comedy that lasts for about an hour.

“The plot centers around a character named Jack, who is the worst Santa Claus ever,” cast member Brian Sundberg said. “Through the course of the show, meeting the various townspeople of this wonderful area, he learns the value of Christmas and how to be a better person at the end of the show.”

The play is also a U.P. original composition. Peninsula Arts Appreciation Council board member Alfred Keefer wrote it, and he enlisted other council members to join the cast.

“He has written a number of the dinner theaters, and now this Christmas, we decided to do a Christmas comedy,” Sundberg said. “It’ll lighten it up, change it up a little bit and keep it fresh for everybody that has come and seen various shows.”

“The Best Christmas Show Ever!” takes the floor on Saturday at the Eagles Club on Iron Street in Negaunee.

The doors open at 5:30, followed by dinner at 6:00 and then the show. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door.
