Firefighters extinguish logging truck brake and tire fire
SPURR TOWNSHIP — A quick response from volunteer firefighters and first responders helped minimize the damage to a logging truck after its brakes and tire caught on fire in Spurr Township late Friday morning.
Firefighters from the Michigamme/Spurr Fire Department say they were called out to the scene near the northern end of Fence River Road around 11:20 a.m. They found that part of the logging truck’s brake system, and subsequently a tire, had ignited. Firefighters were able to get the fire under control within 20 minutes.
There were no injuries. The driver of the logging truck said that he would need to get a few parts replaced before hitting the road again.
