Robinette leads Finlandia men to victory

OSHKOSH, Wisc. – The Finlandia men’s basketball team participated this weekend in the Best Western Premier Waterfront Hotel Titan Classic at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. The Lions earned a split as they lost to Luther College (Iowa) on Friday, 84 to 73 and then defeated Blackburn College (Ill.) in the consolation game on Saturday 84 to 80.

In the loss on Friday, freshman Brandon Robinette  (Escanaba, MI) led the Lions with a double-double as he scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the contest. The Lions had 4 other players scoring in double figures, freshman Eric Lori (Negaunee, MI) with 18 points, junior Jordan LaPlant (Ewen, MI) with 12 points and senior Andrew Johnston (Floral City, FL) with 10 points.

Robinette added another double-double in the win on Saturday for the Lions with 19 points and 12 rebounds, while LaPlant and sophomore Brandon Robinson (North Hollywood, CA) led the team with 20 points a piece. Freshman Justin Nyquist (Gwinn, MI) also scored in double figures with 14 points for Finlandia.

Robinette’s pair of double-doubles on the weekend earned him a selection on the All-Tournament for the weekend.

After the weekend, the Lions are now 2-3 on the season as they look to head downstate to play D-II Northwood University on Saturday, November 29th and Concordia University-Ann Arbor on Sunday, November 30th.
