Saturday’s Pigskin Preview

ISHPEMING – Football fans will have their choice of pigskin to take in this weekend across the Upper Peninsula.

Hunters across the state will be in the woods first things Saturday morning, searching for a trophy to put on the wall or in the freezer. A couple of football teams have their ‘sights set’ on an entirely different prize.

At 8-1,  the Michigan Tech Huskies close out the regular season against Lake Erie College Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. The Huskies will celebrate senior day and with a win, they will likely lock up a playoff birth for the first time in ten years.

In high school football, two U.P. teams– Forest Park and Munising– will battle for a spot in the Division eight semifinals. Game time from the Superior Dome is set for 7 p.m.In the Southern U.P., Menominee hosts Freeland at 2 p.m. CT for a spot in the Division five semifinals.
