Menominee woman jailed on drug charges after police chase

HARRIS TOWNSHIP — A 24-year-old Menominee Township woman is in jail after leading police on a chase through Marinette, WI and Menominee County around 2:15 a.m. Monday.

During a drug investigation, members of the Northeast Tri-County Drug Task Force performed a traffic stop in the City of Marinette. The driver, Katelyn Rivard, was suspected of heroin trafficking. Rivard failed to stop and fled into Michigan, continuing northbound on US-41.

A Menominee County Sheriff’s Deputy, along with Hannaville Police Department officers released stop sticks on US-2/41 in Wilson. Rivard’s vehicle struck the sticks, deflating her tires.

Police say the pursuit ended in Harris Township, where Rivard was arrested and taken into custody. Drugs were found and recovered. Neither Rivard nor anyone else was injured in the pursuit.

Rivard is charged with ‘Fleeing and Eluding Police’ and ‘Possession with Intent to Deliver Heroin.’ She is currently lodged at the Menominee County Jail on a $3,000 cash bond.

Menominee County Sheriff Kenny Marks wants to remind residents to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-427-5857 or 1-715-735-5111 with any drug tips.
