Fire in Gwinn damages two-unit duplex
GWINN — No one was injured in a fire in Gwinn Wednesday afternoon.
The Forsyth Township Fire Department says firefighters responded to the two-unit duplex structure fire at 235 and 237 North Oak Street at 3:00 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters found that an upstairs room of one of the apartments was on fire. They performed a search of both units and found that no one was inside.
Fire damage was contained to 237 North Oak Street, but 235 suffered heavy smoke and water damage. None of the thirty firefighters on scene were injured. Firefighters believe the cause of the blaze was electrical in nature, but the incident is still under investigation.
The Forsyth Township Fire Department was assisted at the scene by Forsyth Township EMS, the Forsyth Township Police Department, Sands Township Fire Department, Skandia/West Branch Fire Department, and Marquette County Rescue 131.
