Nelson signs extension with Packers
The biggest storyline out of the Green Bay Packers training camp so far has come off of the field. Wide receiver Jordy Nelson signed a four-year, $39 million extension with the green and gold over the weekend.
Nelson caught 85 passes last season for 1,315 yards and eight touchdowns. He would have been a free agent after this season.
“I don’t think we ever threw out a deadline, like ‘it has to be done by now or else I’m going to to free agency.’ None of that was said. Mutually we just worked on it, grinded at it, worked at it and got it done,” said a smiling Nelson to a group of reporters on Saturday
Nelson is projected to be primary receiver this season for Packers starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
