MARQUETTE, Mich. –Northern Michigan University women’s basketball assistant coach Kristen Rogers will be departing NMU to accept the head coaching position for the Lake Superior State women’s basketball program, announced the institution Monday.
Rogers has served as the assistant women’s basketball coach at NMU for the past three seasons. Prior to joining the Wildcats staff, Rogers served as an assistant coach at Wayne State for three seasons following a year and a half as a graduate assistant for the Warriors. Rogers also played four years for Wayne State from 2002-06.
“We congratulate Kristen on her appointment as head coach at Lake Superior State and would like to thank her for her commitment to the NMU women’s basketball program,” said NMU head coach Troy Mattson. “Kristen has been an important part of our team success the past three seasons.”
During her three seasons with NMU, the Wildcats posted a 48-36 overall record and a 35-28 record in GLIAC play with Rogers on the bench. She also helped the Wildcats win the 2013-14 GLIAC Tournament Championship, earning a berth in the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Tournament.
