Chicago man goes to prison on cocaine conviction

A Chicago man will spend more than three years in prison on a Luce County drug charge.

Bradley Heard, 36, recently pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine. He’s been sentenced in Luce County Circuit Court to 40 months to 72 months in prison. Prosecutors dropped seven other counts, including maintaining a drug house, under the terms of his plea agreement.

Heard’s co-defendant, Harvey Owens, 28, is serving two and half to 15 years in prison. The Straits Area Narcotics Enforcement Team arrested them in Newberry last September, when detectives seized marijuana, cash, a handgun and other evidence.
