Marquette’s Burnette to play basketball at NMU
Marquette’s Larry Burnette has signed on to play for Bill Sall at Northern Michigan University. He will be a guard for the Wildcats.
Burnette averaged 13.3ppg his senior season for the Redmen on his way to being named to the Class ABC second team by the Upper Peninsula Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association. The now former Marquette hoops star is thrilled that he can continue his basketball career right at home in the Upper Peninsula.
“I’ve always had great support around this area,” said Burnette about playing in Marquette. “It’s a great place to stay. It’s a comfortable environment around here and I have a lot of great fans who can keep watching me play.”
Along with Burnette, the Wildcats signed another guard, Jordan Perez, out of Greendale, Wis. Perez averaged more than 22 points per game last season.
In addition to Burnette and Perez, the Wildcats will have six true freshman on the team this fall.Forwards Cooper Radtke, Alex Sorenson and Kenny Williams signed with NMU way back in January. Adam Pohlman, a guard from Neenah, Wisconsin, signed on to play at NMU in April.
