Marquette Blues win Marinette Tournament
The Marquette Blues won the Marinette Firecracker Baseball Tournament this weekend in Wisconsin. The Blues went 3-1 to take home the title.
The Blues needed a win on Sunday to secure the championship title and they did just that. Marquette defeated Watertown, 7-4. Hunter Larson came up with the big hit for the Blues. Larson hit a 3-run home run in the 5th inning that kept Marquette in front for good. Ryan Hanson pitched all seven innings for the Blues to get credit for the win.
“I told the boys before the game started that we needed to win and play good defense. Menominee and Escanaba both won earlier in the day to set up this opportunity, so go out and play your game,” said Blues manager Derek Swajanen.
Marquette is now 32-8 this season. They are back home on Wednesday for a game against the Gladstone Braves. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
