Braves reflect on winning state championship
The Gladstone Braves softball team completed its mission in East Lansing on Saturday, defeating state powerhouse Unionville Sebewaing, 2-1, in the Division 3 state championship game.
The Braves knocked off the Patriots, who had not lost a single game all season. The win for Gladstone gave the Braves a little bit of payback, after the Patriots knocked them out of the postseason one year ago. Gladstone has had a couple of days to let everything sink in and they won’t be forgetting their magical season anytime soon.
The win over USA capped a great year for the Braves. Gladstone finished the season 30-2. The Braves won their last 19 games of the season. Gladstone has now won three state championships, with the previous two coming in the last ten years (2004, 2009).
