Marquette grocery store will re-open Friday
A family-owned grocery store in Marquette that closed its doors four months ago is just about ready to re-open.
Farmer Q’s Market was in business on Washington Street from 2006 until it shut down in January. However, owners Tom and Susan Brian didn’t need much time to find a new location. In March, they bought a former auto repair shop at Genesee Street and South Front.
“We had to tweak the building for building codes, so basically, we’re all ready to go,” Susan Brian said. “We are planning on re-opening at 9 a.m. on Friday, the 30th. Everybody’s very excited. We’ve had lots of people stop, lots of e-mails, lots of phone calls.”
Susan Brian says the old location wasn’t large enough to suit their needs. They’ll offer the same types of products that they used to sell, but they’ll now have more items.
“We’ll be able to actually offer bigger quantity deals on some of the Michigan products just because we have so much more space, so we’ll be able to retail so much more,” she said.
Farmer Q’s Market will also have extended hours in its new home. The store will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week.
