North Dickinson hires new football head coach

North Dickinson now has a new head football coach after its longtime former coach retired earlier this year.

Mike Christian has just been named the new head coach of the Nordics. He follows U.P. Hall of Fame coach Joe Reddinger, who announced his retirement in February after coaching the Nordics since 1977.

The North Dickinson school board approved Christian as the new hire Monday night. The Nordics players already know him; he’s been the school’s junior varsity head coach for 23 years.

North Dickinson has made the state playoffs every year since 1991, and it’s the longest postseason streak in Michigan history.
