Will ‘Youth be served’ at the NIT?

The boys high school basketball season ended a few weeks ago, but a group of outgoing seniors are going to lace up their shoes one more time and see if they can win the NIT’s Class ‘B’ Championship.

Jandron’s Custom Homes of Negaunee is one of twelve teams in the Class ‘B’ Tournament. Players from eight different U.P. high schools are on the team. Several of the players know each other quite well when they played together on the Northern Michigan Drive AAU squad.

The Class ‘B’ Tournament gets underway on Friday. Stonehouse Window and Door of Ishpeming plays its first game at 5:15 pm against Durbinski. Stonehouse is the defending Class ‘B’ Champs.

The Raw Dawgs from Gwinn take on the Executioners at 6:30 pm. At 7:45 pm, Slab’s Disciples of downstate Kingston battles Jandron’s Custom Homes of Negaunee. The final Class ‘B’ game of the day pits U.P. Insurance of Negaunee against 8 Cities Hoops at 9 p.m. U.P. Insurance has a number of former Michigan Tech players on the team.
