HOUGHTON, Mich. — The Michigan Tech football team began spring drills last week as it prepares for its 92nd season on the gridiron next fall. Four weeks (15 practices) of spring drills will culminate with the annual intrasquad game on April 19 at Sherman Field.
Michigan Tech is coming off its fourth straight winning season and a fourth-place finish in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference a year ago. The Huskies lost just nine seniors from last fall’s squad.
The 2014 senior class is highlighted by quarterback Tyler Scarlett, who already owns Tech’s career records for passing yards (7,554) and touchdowns (62).
In total, Michigan Tech has seven starters back on both sides of the ball with 17 returning players who started games in 2013. Practices are scheduled for Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday each of the next three weeks. The annual intrasquad game is slated to kickoff at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 19.
