Negaunee home charred in afternoon fire
A Negaunee home sustained extensive damage after a house fire broke out early Tuesday afternoon.
Negaunee City Firefighters responded to the call at 424 Division Street around 11:39 a.m. Smoke could be seen billowing from the back of the home and up the side of the northern exterior. The Ishpeming Fire Department was called in for additional support as firefighters battled flames inside, near the kitchen. Initial reports indicate that’s where the fire started.
No one was home at the time. Negaunee City workers turned off power to the home to avoid any possible electrical danger. Firefighters stretched a hose from a fire hydrant two blocks away, as the first location was frozen over. Further details will be released later today. ABC 10 will pass those along as soon as they become available.
Marquette County Rescue 131 and Negaunee City Police assisted at the scene.
