Failure to yield results in Ishpeming Township accident

One man was injured in a two vehicle accident in Ishpeming Township Monday evening.

Officers from the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office say the crash happened shortly after 8:30 p.m., when 35-year-old Eugene Blecker of Ishpeming was attempting to pull out into traffic on US-41 West near North Lake Drive from the Ishpeming Township Fire Hall’s driveway in his 1999 Ford pickup truck. He failed to yield and collided with the 1994 Ford Taurus of 53-year-old John Webb of Champion, which was traveling eastbound on US-41 West.

Webb was transported to Bell Hospital for evaluation of minor injuries and later released. Blecker was found at fault for failing to yield. Both vehicles were heavily damaged and had to be towed from the scene.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Ishpeming Township Fire Department and Bell EMS.
