One injured in U.S. 41 accident in Negaunee
One person was taken to the hospital after a car accident in Negaunee Saturday night just after 10:30.
Police say Victor Collins of Newberry was driving his 2001 red Ford pickup eastbound on U.S. 41 when he ran a stop light. He collided with a 2004 Buick Century driven by Candace Plankey, who was making a left turn on to U.S. 41 from Teal Lake Ave.
Plankey was taken to Bell Hospital after experiencing lower back pain. Collins was cited for disregard of a traffic control device.
Both cars were towed from the scene.
Police say alcohol is not considered a factor in the accident.
The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Bell EMS, and the Negaunee Fire Department assisted at the scene.
