Two criminal cases were in Houghton County Circuit Court today for pretrial hearings.
Nima Nassiri, 34, of Dollar Bay is charged with second-degree murder in the fatal domestic assault incident involving his wife back in December. Defense attorney David Gemignani requested a forensics report, which was granted by Judge Charles Goodman.
Another pretrial will be scheduled on a future date.
Michael Kangas, 37, of Hancock was also in court today. He’s charged with three counts of second–degree criminal sexual conduct.
Gemignani requested further discussion on the case based on the special needs of his
client. Due to the fact that Kangas is bound to a wheelchair, the court wants to figure out the best course of action logistically.
A final pretrial date will be scheduled before the case goes to trial.
