Two people seriously hurt in crash
A six-year-old is in intensive care at Marquette General Hospital after a car accident today in Ishpeming.
The Ishpeming Police Department says a 17-year old driver was believed to be speeding and did not have the child in the proper seat restraints. Cassidy Kudis, 17, of National Mine was driving north on South Pine Street when she crossed the center line on a curve near Excelsior Street and hit a southbound truck head-on.
Kudis and the six-year-old were both seriously injured in the crash. Kudis underwent surgery this afternoon and is listed in serious condition. The truck driver, Lisa Holmgren, 43, of Ishpeming was treated at Bell Hospital and released.
The six-year-old is unrelated to Kudis. The accident is still under investigation.
