Federal funding for family health center
Finding affordable health care in the Houghton area may now be easier thanks to a large chunk of federal funding provided by the Federal Bureau of Primary Health Care.
The Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center will now be able to accept all patients and their insurance providers, including Medicare, regardless of their ability to pay.
The Houghton Family Health Center will provide services on a sliding scale, based on federal poverty guidelines. The additional funding will help strengthen the nonprofit’s new partnership with Portage Health as it transitions its existing primary care practice in Houghton into a Family Health Center.
