Three vehicle accident in Houghton County
Troopers from the Michigan State Police Calumet Post responded to US-41 and Boston Road for a three vehicle personal injury accident Friday afternoon.
At about 4:30 p.m., a 19 year old Hancock man, traveling southbound in a Dodge Neon, came up on a slow-moving Chevrolet SUV being driven by a 55 year old Hancock man, also heading southbound. Troopers say the Neon rear ended the SUV, which caused it to cross the center line and collide head on with a north bound Mercury Sable being driven by a 23 year old Calumet woman.
The three drivers suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported by Mercy EMS to Portage Hospital.
Assisting in the accident were Houghton County Sheriff’s Office, Boston Fire Department, Calumet Township Fire Department, Quincy-Franklin-Hancock Township Fire Department, Mercy EMS and Superior Service & Towing.
The driver of the Neon was cited for driving too fast for conditions. The road at the time of the accident was snow-covered and icy with whiteout conditions.
