MTU: America’s snowiest college campus

With the heavy snowfall coming down across the country, the college campus with the most snow is in our own backyard.

According to AccuWeather.com, Michigan Tech is the snowiest college in America. The website made a list of the top ten campuses that included Cornell University, the University of Minnesota-Duluth and Western Michigan University. Blue Key Honors Society President Jack Lubinski says the students are honored to have the distinction.

“We were all elated to hear that we are the number-one snowiest location. We have speculated for years that we have been such, but now that it is confirmed, it really makes us have pride in the area we live in and we’ve grown in,” Lubinski said.

Lubinski adds that events like Winter Carnival allow students to embrace the excessive amounts of snow. Michigan Tech gets an average of 200 inches of snow per year.
