Two Huskies earn WCHA accolades
Two Michigan Tech University hockey players have been recognized by the Western Collegiate Hockey Association for their stellar play at the Great Lakes Invitational in Detroit last week.
Sophomore goaltender Phoenix Copley was named the W-C-H-A defensive player of the week. Copley allowed just two even strength goals in two games at Comerica Park. He finished the GLI with a .947 save percentage.
Alex Petan was named the WCHA offensive player of the week for the second time this season. The sophomore forward scored the game tying goal against Michigan State on Dec. 27. The Huskies won the game in a shootout.
Petan finished the GLI earning all–tournament honors for the second straight year. He has 17 points in 22 games played this season.
