MTU football award winners
Michigan Tech junior quarterback Tyler Scarlett was named the Huskies Most Valuable Player for the second straight season. Scarlett had 2,552 passing yards and sixteen touchdowns in the Huskies 10 games in 2013.
Scarlett is now the Huskies all–time passing yards leader with 7,554 yards. He will add to that mark next season as a senior.
Other award winners included linebacker Taylor Ziolkowoski. He was named the Huskies defensive player of the year. The senior finished the season with a team leading 93 tackles, two interceptions, and two fumble recoveries.
Wide receiver Jordan McConnell was named the offensive player of the year. The senior caught a team high 62 passes for 851 yards and six touchdowns.
Kicker Garrett Mead was the special teams player of the year. He led the Huskies in scoring with 59 points.
The Huskies handed out the awards at a team dinner on Monday, Dec. 16.
