Home for the Holidays at UPAWS
The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter is ready to celebrate the holidays.
The shelter is hosting its annual Home for the Holidays Open House Friday. People will be able to tour the shelter, meet the board and volunteers, and of course see all the animals.
“It’s a time to come together and it’s a time to celebrate the season with the animal,” UPAWS Board Vice President Ann Brownell said. “We have refreshments and goodies. We have a classroom of schoolchildren that make luminaries for us, we’re hoping to have carolers this year, and we have some really, really awesome adoption specials. It’s great, bring a pet home for the holidays.”
UPAWS has adoption specials the whole month of December, but there are special adoption rates just for the open house.
“The first twenty adoptions you can come in whether it’s a dog, a cat, a guinea pig—there will be no fee,” Brownell said. “Every adoption after that during the open house is going to be half off, so it is a spectacular deal.”
All adopted pets also get a gift package.
Home for the Holidays runs from noon to 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
