Man faces prison time for allegedly shooting dog
A Gwinn man accused of shooting and torturing a dog in Forsyth Township will be sentenced for one felony count of Killing or Torturing an Animal in Marquette County Circuit Court later this month.
Michael Baumann, 65, faces up to four years in prison and/or a $5,000 fine for the felony charge. He was originally charged with an additional count of Reckless use of a Weapon, but that charge was thrown out.
Police say Baumann shot a dog several times on July 20 at his home in the 100 block of Johnson Lake Road in Forsyth Township.
The dog was not killed in the ordeal, but it was permanently injured.
Baumann will be sentenced on December 20.
