Technology fuels Marquette taco restaurant

Tacos, technology, and dad’s recipe for success equal a new taco restaurant in Marquette.

Ron’s Taco Shop opened in November at 1102 North Third Street in Marquette with more than a few unique features.  Customers can use self–ordering kiosks to customize their own meal.

Breakfast burritos and late–night hours have made this taco joint an instant success.

“We opened on November 11 at 11:11 a.m. and we had a line to get in the door and it’s been steady everyday, all day, all night until we close at midnight,” Ron’s Taco Shop owner Rigel Pihlainen said.

“The taco – the soft shell – is amazing, deep fried the shells so that’s pretty unique, I like that about it.  The coke is amazing; they get it from Mexico so it has pure cane sugar in it.  Tastes good,” customer Shawn Byrwa.

A fan favorite is the walking taco that you eat out of bag.

Ron’s Taco Shop is the first restaurant in Marquette to introduce self–ordering kiosks, and they have a mobile ordering app in the works.
