Phone scam in the Copper Country
Troopers from the Calumet Post of the Michigan State Police are warning residents about a phone scam involving dental insurance.
Troopers say an elderly woman was contacted by another woman who said she was from New York. The woman claimed to work for a company that sold dental and vision insurance that would supplement Medicaid.
The caller asked to verify the woman’s identification, including address and bank account information.
The Michigan State Police want to remind people to not give out personal information to anyone. They urge residents to contact them at (906) 337–2211 if they believe they have received a similar phone call.
