U.P. man appointed to state hospice board

MARQUETTE – The Hospice and Palliative Care Association of Michigan (HPCAM) has appointed Dr. Jeff Nyquist, Ph.D., to its Board of Directors. Dr. Nyquist is currently the Executive Director/CEO of Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice (UPHHH).

HPCAM was created in 1979 to work with and advocate for Michigan-based Hospice and Palliative Care organizations to deliver quality services to terminally ill citizens. The HPCAM Board of Directors consists of prestigious Hospice and Palliative Care providers and other experts from across Michigan. This new appointment will allow Dr. Nyquist to represent and advocate for the needs of the people of Michigan and the Upper Peninsula in particular.

Nyquist grew up in the Hospice industry as his mother was the founder of the first Hospice program in the Upper Peninsula. He has spent the last six years with UPHHH. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Northern Michigan University and an MS and Doctoral Degree in Behavior Neuroscience from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. He was appointed to fill the balance of his mother’s, Cindy Nyquist, term on the HPCAM Board of Directors.

Jeff brings with him a tremendous history of involvement with Hospice and palliative care and leadership experience that matches our expectations of an active Board member.”

Dr. Nyquist’s term will begin in January 2014 and run through June 2015. He will be eligible to run for an open seat on the Board during the 2015 annual meeting.
