‘Cats hockey back in action Friday
After early season road trips to Wisconsin and Alaska, the Northern Michigan University hockey team enjoyed an early season bye week last weekend. The Wildcats won’t have to hit the road again until December rolls around.
NMU will play the first of four consecutive home games beginning on Friday, Nov. 22, when Alabama Huntsville comes to town. The Chargers have struggled so far in their initial season in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.
Alabama Huntsville is 0-6 through six league games. The Chargers have scored just five goals in those six league games. Don’t expect NMU to take the Chargers lightly. The Wildcats know that Alabama Huntsville is a better team than what their record indicates.
“Anybody can beat you on any given night,” said Wildcats assistant coach John Kyle. “We’ve really been taking these guys seriously. For our guys, we want to make sure they understand that these are really important league games for us.”
“There’s a lot of parity in our league and in other leagues as well, so we’re preparing for good battles on Friday and Saturday night and it’s going to be no different than any other weekend,” said Wildcats forward Stephan Vigier.
Puck drop for Friday and Saturday is at 7:07 p.m.
